In my little oasis of a garden rests a small statue of St. Francis. There, amidst the green and beside a small pool, the lovingly carved stone depicts a moving moment in the story of St. Francis and the wolf. It was said that at one time, a fierce wolf was terrorizing the people of a small village, attacking them sporadically and carrying off their children for food. The people were helpless until St. Francis arrived one day and spoke to the wolf, befriending it and taming it, to the joy of the people.
Unlike most statues of St. Francis, austere and standing like a church icon, the one in my garden serenely shows him sitting on the ground embracing the wolf in a moment of love and peace: the ultimate union of dark and light. I fell in the love with the statue from the moment I saw it because it resonates a singular truth that I have heard angels say over and over again through the many years of being conscious of them: Everything is One.
Oneness: no you or I, no this or that, no black or white, no good or evil, no yin or yang. Everything is One. When we meet someone, we are always meeting ourselves. When we are in conflict with someone, we are in conflict with ourselves. When we love someone, we love ourselves. We are not apart, you and I, although our mind may tell us so. We are One at our deepest level. And this is a truth that we know very well although many choose to forget it.
And thus our angels are not invisibly hovering beside us or in front of us. They are not in the same space we occupy. They are within us because they are us, just as the Source is within all of us. We are not One in metaphor, rather, we are One literally and in spirit. As we experience Love through the Source, so is Love within all of us, the thread that weaves the fabric of our Spirit together. We are One through Love with each other, with our angels, and with the Source.
As I sit with St. Francis in my garden, I ponder on the times I have allowed my mind to trigger emotions of irritation and eventually anger with others. Such moments have always brought forth sadness rather than joy, and dark instead of Light. And I ponder on the ultimate truth that St. Francis lived in his life as I listen to my angel pray, “Make me an instrument of your Peace…”
St. Francis is also my guardian. I once was in a position to have a school named. That school was devoted to working with extreme emotionally challenged teens. I was able to convince the school board to name the school after St. Francis. His words have comforted me often on my journey through life. I really enjoyed reading your post!
That’s one of the reasons why I reach out from the comfort of my “garden” in life trying to help others find their peace. See my blog at http://www.sherrieh.wordpress.com Angel Blessings.
great blog!
this one relates me to the new movie (in the tradition of “The Secret” and “What the Bleep..”) THE MOSES CODE. Neale Donald Walsch and the others are in it — talking about the “I Am, That I Am”. Nice one. Have you seen it?

and if one terrorizes others, he/she is terrorizing himself/herself i presume. i wonder where their angels are and what makes them choose darkness over goodness.
